(KNSI) – A man was injured in a snowmobile crash near Holdingford.

The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office says 27-year-old Clayton Dobmeier was riding near the intersection of County Road 17 and 147th Avenue when he hit a fence post. The accident was reported around 2:15 on Saturday afternoon.

Officials say the Holdingford man suffered a substantial cut to his left leg from the metal post. The fence post came through the bottom of the snowmobile and struck Dobmeier’s leg causing the laceration. After being treated on scene, Dobmeier was transported to the hospital by a private party.

Deputies say numerous fence posts were snow-covered with only a few inches exposed and were hard to see.

Holdingford Fire and Rescue and Mayo Ambulance assisted on the scene.
